WHY WRITING THINGS DOWN TO MANIFEST WORKS!

  • Posted By : J. Carter, Esq./

  • Under : INSPIRATION

Focus, Focus, Focus

Do you want to know why writing things down to manifest works?

Whenever you write down your goals and intentions they force you to focus.

Sitting down and collecting your thoughts require your full attention.

Whatever You Put Your Attention On Grows

“What you think about is what you bring about.” This is a very popular saying. Whatever you pay attention to is what you will experience in your life. So if you are wondering why you have had bad relationships, bad finances, bad friendships it is probably because this is what your are thinking about.

STEPS ON HOW TO MANIFEST YOUR INTENTIONS

So, you’re going to need a pen and paper. Even better a journal.

You can also use a vision board but I do not suggest using your laptop.

1. Identify your desires.

Write down at least three goals professionally and personally. The Power of Three says not to make a list of more than 3 things to properly execute without getting overwhelmed.

2. Write it down.

See Above- Use paper or vision board preferably.

3. Write down in detail what it feels like to have what you want.

The more specific the better. Instead of saying I want to lose weight say I want to eat healthier, exercise 2-3 times a week and drink more water to lose ______pounds by this date______. Now you have a method to reach your goal and a deadline to help you stay accountable and reach the goal.

4. Let it Go.

The letting go part is so you don’t give your logical mind room to begin questioning or doubting your goals.

Think of your list or vision board as magic. As soon as you have written it, it is already done.

Choose whatever method works for you and have fun with this!

Please let us know if these tips helped you and please share our article! Looking forward to seeing you dreams come true!

CareerFab: Philanthropist and Educator Leah “Lady Like” Pump

  • Posted By : admin/

  • Under : CAREER

What do you get when you put a mentor, socialite and educator together? You get the beautiful and delightful Leah Pump.

Leah is a former teacher and principal and her non profit “The Lady Like Foundation” has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars in scholarships as well as runs a year round mentorship program for adolescent girls including resource programs, workshops, and events that challenge the ladies to reach their highest potential and become the successful, well-rounded “Lady” they were created to be.  Do you have a life goal in becoming a philanthropist and starting your own 501c3? Well we have the scoop on everything you need to know, read on!

1. Why did you choose your profession?

The creation of my organization came out a lot of bad personal decisions on my part. I was raised in a very conservative and religious family where everything had structure. So when I went to college I let go of all of that and fell love in love with a guy that I ended actually marrying that treated me terribly. I had to humble myself and go back home, get a job and that is when I also returned to my church. This is where I started a ministry for adolescent girls called the “Ladylike” ministry that cautioned them on everything from good hygiene to drugs to bad relationships . From there on out I became there counselor, their mentor, I couldn’t get rid of them (lol!). I would have them meet in my small little apartment each week. We did everything from leadership classes to makeup classes to college application workshops. Then one day a girlfriend of mine told me I should package it into a 501c3. And at first I was reluctant. But eventually I did it and filed the paperwork and so it became the official “Lady Like Foundation” in 2007. I knew that one of things I wanted to do with the Foundation was to give out scholarships like my grandparents.

2. What is the favorite part of your job?

I am determined to make sure the girls I mentor don’t end up making the same mistakes I did. I love to see them grow and flourish into well rounded ladies!

3. What is the most difficult part of your job?

Fundraising. I didn’t become good at fundraising until I met my husband (Dana Pump) who has a foundation that has given away over $10M dollars for cancer research. He showed me how to tell my story, and through networking how to get in front of the right people and what to do after you have met those people. He also showed me how to do grant writing.

Some don’t know this but I struggled even selling one ticket to my very first event. I asked God if you let someone buy one ticket than that would be my sign that this was something he really wanted me to do and I went to the mailbox and there was one envelope for one ticket.

4.  Who is your mentor (if any)?

So many, but definitely my grandmother and my husband. My grandmother who financed my entire operation when I first started. My parents and even my pastor who has been my life coach.

5. Best piece of advice for someone pursuing your field?

You have to be all in. It is so hard to do this. You have to really have a passion and calling for what you do. You also have to be willing to believe in your cause will no one else does and even when no one is helping you. Can you still in a pandemic, bless people and help people when you don’t know where the resources are going to come from? This takes me back to when sometimes you even have to be willing to take it out of your own pocket. I remember feeding my first group of girls with just cereal, cookie and punch or spaghetti and sometimes even just the pizza hut deal specials. Philanthropy really isn’t a money maker. So many people think I get rich and live off my foundation. This couldn’t be further from the truth.

6. If you have not chosen this profession what would have you chosen instead?

I definitely would have stayed in education as a teacher or a principal. I adore teaching. My students to this day still reach out to me. Now once a week, I volunteer and go into local schools in the inner cities teaching a course I developed called the “LadyLike Class” curriculum for Middle and High School girls.

7. Favorite designer?

I love designer fashion but I also am known to wear some of my own pieces from own boutique that I can dress up with a nice Hermès bag and some Louboutins. For high end fashion, I would say my favorite Italian designer is Dolce Gabana. I love their patterns and how it fits curves and its a staple that you can keep it forever. I am also a shoe freak and have thousands of shoes. I have everything from Manolos to Christian Louboutins to Amina Muaddi. I wear dresses every single day, I dress them up and dress them down with sneakers and even slides.

8. Favorite makeup brand?

I mix and match. I go from Laura Mercier to Mac to NYX. NYX has really good concealer. I also love Nars tinted moisturizer and bronzer. Fenty Beauty is also good for highlighters.

9. Favorite skin brand?

I believe you have to have a great canvas before putting makeup on. I currently use BeautyBio products and I have my dermatologist that mixes my own moisturizer for me. I also like Neutrogena SPF products.

10. If you could only choose 5 items to put in your purse everyday, what would they be?

Makeup bag, baby wipes, hand sanitizer/lotion, mask (especially these days) and cell phone!

11. Anything you would like our readers to know that you are supporting, selling or creating?

Please stay tuned for my memoir book “Seven” being released on Amazon and on all platforms this Holiday season! You can donate to my charity year long by visiting TheLadyLike.com.

CareerFab: Attorney and Music Artist Rexy Rolle

  • Posted By : admin/

  • Under : CAREER

What do you get when you put a super talented and legal mind together? You get the one and only Rexy Rolle. Rexy is a licensed attorney but her recent venture into the music industry as a recording artist has everyone talking and her new journey has even been recognized by Forbes. Do you have a career goal in becoming a lawyer or music artist? Well we have the scoop on everything you need to know, read on!

1. Why did you choose your profession?

I knew I wanted to practice law when I was younger, but I wasn’t sure which type of law I’d focus on. When my parents ventured to start an airline in 2000 I witnessed both the triumphs and the trials. As time progressed, and certainly by the time I started law school it was clear to me that I needed to bring value and help where it was needed at Western Air, so that steered my career. My focus on aviation and business law became an operational asset almost immediately.

2. What is the favorite part of your job?

I love a good flow and I truly enjoy working collectively with my team to provide one thing: quality, consistent service to our customers.

3. What is the most difficult part of your job?

Sometimes tough decisions are required on the spot where not everyone wins in that moment. Being responsible for how those choices unfold is difficult but it’s a part of the territory.

4.  Who is your mentor (if any)? We read that you were recently inspired by businesswoman and artist Rihanna regarding your music career.

Cheesy to say, but my parents. I learn a lot of practical tips from them, sprinkled in with life lessons.

5. Best piece of advice for someone pursuing your field?

The aviation industry is large in scope, with many professions tucked away in each sector. Some of those professions are not as known or popular to the general public. I would say, get well versed on the various paths within the field. This field (like most) is also recommendation heavy, we trust the people we have proven business with, so get involved in some capacity early on to connect, whether that’s through clubs, internship, mentoring opportunities, etc.

6. If you have not chosen this profession would have you chosen instead? We see that you recently have ventured into music and you have recorded three singles as a new recording artist and that making music and being a lawyer seem different but are actually alike in the sense you have to know how to finesse words to get your point across.

I would’ve probably done something in Communications/ Entertainment, perhaps a television anchor/ host. Growing up I never wanted to be just one thing. The music journey is fairly new for me, and it requires me building and being consistent with putting out music and really building a base.

7. Favorite designer?

Too many to name. But for work I tend to like quite a bit of Ted Baker. Generally it’s all about the fit and whether I do a double take. I usually shop very fast and only stop if it catches my eye.

8. Favorite makeup brand?

Fenty Beauty! My makeup bag is pretty diverse, with numerous brands. But it’s a plus to support talented black business women (like Rihanna) and that’s easy to do when the products are great.

9. Favorite hair care?

My hair is natural and I wear a lot of protective styles, so keeping my hair moisturized is very important. Argan oil, coconut oils, Shea Moisture shampoo and conditioners are also go-yo hair care products for me.

10. Favorite skin brand?

Recently I’ve been using a few Elta products, mainly tinted facial sunscreen.

11. If you could only choose 5 items to put in your purse everyday, what would they be?

Passport, credit card, press powder for touch ups, phone and lip gloss!

12. Anything you would like our readers to know that you are supporting, selling or creating?

InspoFab: Silence is the Answer

  • Posted By : J. Carter, Esq./

  • Under : INSPIRATION

You’ve worked months or even years on a project, business, or deal and you finally see the fruits of your labor. Suddenly you are acknowledged for your success and it’s eerily quiet. Sure you may get a few likes on social media and immediate congratulations from your family. But there will noticeably be some friends and colleagues that will not even acknowledge your accomplishments.

This silence will at first offend you, anger you or even make you sad. But here’s why it shouldn’t:

  • They are envious. It’s not uncommon that they are jealous that they can never achieve your level of success and that they wish they could achieve it.
  • They really are your competitors. Sometimes we mistake friends for “frienemies”. Sometimes people pretend to be our friends to benefit from what we have but are ready to surpass or take us down the minute it becomes convenient to raise their stature.
  • They compare their success to yours. Some “friends” are ok with you succeeding in your personal or professional life as long as you are not surpassing them. Classic crab in the barrel mentality.

So the next time you achieve something, don’t wait for the applause. Instead expect the crickets. And let that silence be your answer on whose really “rooting for you”.

In the last 90 days, the world has seen a global pandemic with the Covid Crisis and racial tensions rise in the fight against police brutality.

I like you probably sometimes feel overwhelmed with the amount of information to process and all the graphic images and videos of those hurting, angry or dying. Below are some tips from Talk Space and us on how to ope with these traumatic events.

HOW TO COPE WITH TRAUMATIC RACIAL EVENTS

  1. Know when it’s time to power off your phone and avoid triggering videos and accounts.
  2. Only watch news max twice a day to stay informed but not overwhelmed.
  3. Write out your feelings in a journal
  4. Increase self care (home face masks, drink tea and water, take bubble baths, mediate, exercise).
  5. Be an advocated the best way you can whether it be sharing or signing a petition, making a call, or donating to causes. Everyone doesn’t need to physically protest to make a difference.
  6. If you are not Black American make sure out to reach out to your Black American friends to let them know that you care and are thinking of them.

HOW TO COPE WITH TRAUMATIC COVID EVENTS

  1. Do not completely isolate. Social distance only requires mask and six feet. Most states are in phase two of re-opening so visiting friends in outdoor spaces like hiking, beach and parks is good.
  2. Exercise in your house or walk around your neighborhood.
  3. Drink Plenty of Vitamin C to fight off germs.
  4. Wash your hands every time you come back from being outside for at least 20 seconds and wipe down common surfaces like your phone and door knobs twice a day.
  5. Pray and or Mediate.
  6. Zoom or Facetime Family and Friends at least once a week.
  7. Step outside at least once a day.
  8. Order in your favorite foods.
  9. Watch your favorite movies and catch up on binge worthy shows.

Most of us have heard the rule (“no white after Labor Day,” etc.), and best time to wear white is the start of the summer which is traditionally marked by Memorial Day which is this weekend.

However, we are here to show you how to embrace wearing fresh whites at any point during the year.

We love how layering different shades of white and eggshell make for a fresh combo, no matter which dates our calendars display.

Spring/Summer

White Lace Dresses are never a bad idea!

InspoFab: Corona Getaway!

No Concerts, No Sports, No Movies, No Trips, No Museums, No Restaurants, No Weddings, No Parties, No Beaches and No Gyms.

We are all stuck inside because of the Corona Virus Pandemic. Just 40 days ago our lives were so normal. The worldwide stay at home orders are leaving some people depressed, scared and frustrated being stuck on the inside with no end in sight. Here is what I did to give myself a break from my home environment while staying safe.

1. Pick the best area of town where you live or travel to your second home or vacation home. For example, I chose Malibu. If you do not have a personal home somewhere else rent a hotel suite or nice Airbnb full of plush amenities.

2. Plan your meals ahead of time. Order from restaurants that deliver through Uber eats, Door Dash etc. Order all your favorite breakfast, lunch and dinner foods. I am a seafood foodie so most of my meals had seafood items like crab rolls, shrimp cocktails and oysters. For breakfast, I also did plenty of fruit, nuts, cheeses with standard items like pancakes and french toast. To top it off I had different types of Mimosas with several juices and in the evening had selection of red and white wines.

3. Plan your staycation activities. Since you are currently at home watching mostly TV and on the computer and on social media all day, stay away from these draining activities and instead choose reinvigorating and relaxing activities. If your staycation home has a pool or jacuzzi, swim during the day and relax in jacuzzi at night. My home was on the beach so I had the benefit of walking along the beach and falling asleep to the waves. I also exercised during the day, read books and listened to music during the day. As a special treat, my nail tech with masks and gloves performed mobile in house services so I had mani and pedi spa day during my stay. In the evening, I chose to unwind some nights to some popular of Oscar movies with popcorn and gave myself facials with sheet masks I purchased from Target and CVS. My staycation partner also convinced me to do my first Tik Tok videos that gave me a chance to act and dance something I hadn’t done in months!

The takeaway is make sure during this time you do not stay at home day after day. Take even if it is just a weekend to change your environment, relax and reset!

InspoFab: My real life CBD Journey with Brown Girl Jane!

It’s 2 am, I can’t sleep. I’m tossing and turning. After pure exhaustion I finally fall back to sleep only to wake right back up at 6am. During the day I can not focus. I’m not starting and completing as many tasks as I did before. I feel overwhelmed and anxious. This has been my life since October of last year. After several personal challenges including recovering from a knee injury, fighting off a stalker, my brother being shot in a drive by, dealing with a business partner dispute and relocation after a breakup, I was at my ropes end. One day I just so happen to being scrolling down my Instagram page and I noticed my best friend from high school and her sister had launched a new CBD line of drops and scrubs for anxiety and sleep. I immediately called her to reconnect and tell her what symptoms I had been suffering but also to express my concerns with CBD. I had never smoked marijuana let alone inhaled it so I was afraid I would be walking around high as a kite! To my surprise and relief she said CBD was not weed! CBD (a calming cannabinoid) unlike THC which is contained in weed, has no psychoactive effects. There is no “high” or other mind-altering effects from CBD. On the contrary: CBD on its own has calming, anti-anxiety effects—one of the reasons why it’s been identified as a useful supplement to treat insomnia and other sleep problems. However, CBD can have several positive effects including it may help you feel relaxed. That can feel a bit like a high, though it’s not intoxicating.
Within 24 hours of trying the “sleep” drops I immediately felt relief and could sleep. And during the day it took about a week for me to start feeling the calmness the “balance” drops gave me but I definitely regained my focus. Trying to run 3 companies and balancing my brothers recovery has been the hardest thing I have had to since my dad’s passing 5 years ago. Asking for help is not in my nature and prior to these CBD drops I was not an advocate of aides like prescription drugs that people tend to become addicted to. That’s why these drops are a miracle and have really SAVED my life. So glad I tried CBD! I also like that her drops were made in mind for the busy professional woman especially women of color. If you are interested in trying CBD this is a great starting place! Visit Browngirljane.com to purchase and learn more! Leave a comment below on your CBD journey!

InspoFab: New Decade New You! 2020 Goal Setting Tips

  • Posted By : admin/
  • Under : INSPIRATION

If you are reading this, you made it to the next decade! 10 years can fly by fast. Can you actually name what you have accomplished personally and professionally for yourself in the last ten years? Most of us can not. Why? Because most of us fall victim to setting goals or resolutions and never executing them. Below are tips on how to actually execute your goals in this new decade.

1. WRITE IT DOWN – Did you know that 44% of persons of the most successful people actually wrote their goals down? And that they also made 9 more times more money that write them down! Why? Because writing out your goals down actually forces you to look at what you want and by default encourages you to write down how you can execute these goals.

2. BE SPECIFIC- The more specific the better. When you narrow down specifically what you want it makes it actually easier to execute. Instead of saying I want to become financially independent, say which business you will launch in order to achieve this independence. Instead of saying I want to lose weight, say you will set a regular gym schedule and change your diet and the weight loss will automatically follow.

3. GIVE YOURSELF A DEADLINE- Many ask me how I am able to launch so many businesses or complete so many projects in such a short time frame. The secret is to give yourself a date deadline (long projects 6-9months and short project 2-3 months) and hold yourself accountable to that deadline. If you are working up to a certain date even if you don’t complete it on that exact date you will eventually complete it because you would have been working up to that point trying to complete it.

4. GIVE YOURSELF A VISUAL- Vision boards work because they keep your desires in the forefront of your mind. The idea is that once you create your vision board, you will put in a place where you can see it everyday, and thus be consistently inspired and motivated to achieve the goals you place on your board.

5. DECLARE OUT LOUD- Once you write down your goals and have images of them you see on a regular basis on your vision board then you will by default start to speak about them. By speaking about them your actions will start to match your words and you will only associate with people and things that will align with executing your goals. You will be manifesting your desires into existence by placing them into the universe.

Here’s to your next ten years!
